PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman discovered multiple violations in the distribution of Minyakita cooking oil during an unannounced inspection at Pasar Jaya Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta. The inspection revealed that Minyakita was being sold above the government-mandated Highest Retail Price (HET).

Beyond pricing violations, Minister Amran also found discrepancies in the product’s volume. Instead of containing the standard 1 liter, some Minyakita packages only held between 750 to 800 milliliters. The products were manufactured by PT Artha Eka Global Asia, Koperasi Produsen UMKM Koperasi Terpadu Nusantara (KTN), and PT Tunasagro Indolestari. Despite the packaging listing a price of IDR 15,700 per liter, retailers were selling it for IDR 18,000 per liter.

Minister Amran strongly condemned these practices, emphasizing that they harm consumers and will not be tolerated. He called for immediate legal action against violators, warning that their businesses could be shut down.

“We personally inspected the market to ensure food supply and quality, including cooking oil. Instead, we found violations—Minyakita being sold above the HET, from IDR 15,700 to IDR 18,000,” Amran stated, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com from Liputan6 on Monday (10/3/2025).

“Furthermore, the volume is inconsistent. It should be 1 liter, but some packages contain only 750 to 800 milliliters. This is a clear act of fraud that harms the public, especially during Ramadan when demand for essential goods rises,” he added.

Minister Amran urged the Food Task Force and the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) to take swift action in enforcing regulations and preventing future violations.

“We cannot allow these deceptive practices to continue. The government is committed to protecting public interests. I have already coordinated with the Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the Food Task Force. If violations are confirmed, these companies must be shut down and have their licenses revoked. There is no room for businesses that exploit the public for profit,” he asserted.

He also reminded all producers and distributors to comply with regulations, stating that the government will continue market inspections to ensure food products meet established standards.

“I warn all producers and distributors—do not tamper with the people’s essential goods. If anyone tries to profit dishonestly, the government will take strict action. We will not hesitate to shut down and revoke licenses of businesses found guilty of violations,” he concluded. (P2)
