PALMOILMAGAZINE, SAMBAS — Head of the West Kalimantan Plantation and Livestock Office (Kadisbunnak), Heronimus Hero, SP., M.Si, recently conducted a performance inspection at PT Mitra Utama Bintang’s (MUB) Palm Oil Mill (PKS) located in Sabung Village, Subah District, Sambas Regency.

According to information received by Palmoilmagazine.com on Saturday (April 19, 2025), the visit aimed to ensure that the mill’s operations comply with industry standards and to support the development of downstream palm oil industries in the region.
PT MUB is one of nine palm oil mills operating in Sambas Regency and is unique for operating without a nucleus plantation, relying entirely on supplies from independent farmers and third parties.

Established in 2022, PT MUB’s mill has an installed capacity of 60 tons of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) per hour. Currently, it operates at 40 tons of FFB per hour — processing approximately 600 tons of FFB daily. This production yields about 120 tons of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) per day, equivalent to roughly 36,000 tons of CPO annually, assuming 300 working days.

During his inspection, Heronimus Hero praised PT MUB for its positive impact on the local economy, particularly through job creation.
“A total of 98 people work at this mill, most of whom are local residents. This greatly contributes to the village’s economic growth,” he said.

He also emphasized the importance of strong collaboration between mills and independent palm oil farmers to maintain a sustainable and reliable supply chain.
The presence of mills like PT MUB, he noted, provides valuable opportunities for farmers to sell their harvests directly without being dependent on large companies with their own plantations.

The West Kalimantan Provincial Government, he added, continues to encourage stronger partnerships and quality improvements across the palm oil sector, from production to processing.
“We hope this mill can gradually increase its operational capacity and continue building strong partnerships with farmers,” Heronimus stated.

This monitoring activity is part of the West Kalimantan Plantation and Livestock Office’s routine oversight efforts to ensure that the local palm oil industry operates optimally and contributes significantly to regional economic development. (P2)
