Five Suspects Arrested for Stealing FFB at PT Gunung Madu Plantation

PALMOILMAGAZINE, LAMPUNG TENGAH – Five suspects were caught red-handed stealing fresh fruit bunches from the palm oil plantations of PT Gunung Madu Plantation (GMP) in Kampung Mataram Udik Village, Bandar Mataram Subdistrict, Lampung Tengah.

The suspects used a complete set of tools and a diesel colt truck with the license plate number BE 8906 F. The police successfully confiscated all the items.

Iptu Sunarto, Head of Seputih Mataram Police, representing AKBP Andik Purnomo Sigit, S.H., S.I.K., M.M., Head of Lampung Tengah Police, identified the suspects as AGS (33) from Bandar Mataram, RYN (38) from Punggur, ED (34) from Bandar Surabaya, AST (29) from Seputih Surabaya, and RKO (30) from Bandar Mataram.

“They were caught in the act of loading 2.6 tons of fresh fruit bunches onto the truck from the palm oil plantations at PT GMP’s Division at 22:45 WIB on Tuesday, 30 July 2024,” Sunarto stated on Friday.

The stealing was known after Juanda (46), a worker at PT GMP, saw a suspicious truck parking in the path to sugarcane plantations at about 10 p.m. He knew that there should be no activity at the time, approached the truck and saw five men that lifted up stolen fresh fruit bunch (FFB) to the truck.

“Juanda saw the suspects that had complete tools, including one egrek and two pieces of tojos. When Juanda asked them, the five clearly said that they were stealing FFB at Division VII of PT GMP,” Sunarto said, as Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from Indonesian Police Public Relation, Monday (5/8/2024).

Juanda directly called the security and the police. Not long after, the five were secured and the evidences were too.

They would be questioned and threatened with stealing case based on Chapter 363 Criminal Code with maximally seven years – in jail.

Iptu Sunarto appreciated the quick response of the worker at PT GMP and the security officer of the company. “The cooperation between the police and the people would be very significant to maintain the security and discipline namely to prevent the criminal action like it,” he said and suggested that every people and worker in the plantations should be aware and immediately report every suspicious action to the authority. “It would help to maintain the security in the society,” he said.
