PALMOILMAGAZINE, DELI SERDANG — A fire broke out in a palm oil mill tank owned by PT Musim Mas at the Kawasan Industri Medan (KIM) II in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, on Saturday evening, October 26, 2024. Although the fire was quickly extinguished, it caused panic among local residents and workers at the site.
The fire affected several tanks, and witnesses reported that it erupted suddenly, alarming villagers and passersby near the factory. One witness described the blaze as massive. “It was huge, and everyone was in panic. Thankfully, the company had fire extinguishing equipment in place, and it was quickly put out,” said Herman, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com from Kompas TV on Sunday, October 27, 2024.
Security officers at the mill, along with firefighters from KIM II Medan and Deli Serdang, promptly secured the area. Within 10 to 15 minutes, they managed to control the fire, aided by the availability of fire extinguishing tools and the preparedness of the firefighting teams.

There was no victim in the accident but it was still being investigated to make sure why it happened. This reminded us that it would be significant to prepare fire extinguishers in the industrial zone. (P2)
