Nunik Maharani Maulana, Director of Sustainability and Communication at ANJ Group, explained that the theme for ANJ’s SL25 submission was “Building a Self-Reliant Community through Savings Cooperatives.” This initiative was launched to address the limited access to financial services in Sorong Selatan and Maybrat, regions in West Papua where ANJ operates. Since its establishment in 2018, Koperasi Simpan has helped meet the basic needs of local communities while empowering them to improve their financial management.

“Realizing that it was difficult to go to some banks, we established Koperasi Simpan around our plantations – PT Putera Manunggal Perkasa (PMP) and PT Permata Putera Mandiri (PPM). Besides delivering financial service, we do make Toko Serba Ada (Toserba) to help the people get daily needs in economic prices,” Nunik said.

Koperasi Simpan has significantly developed to be the center of economy locally by providing daily needs in economic prices. Nunik thought it would be the real agent of change to realize the vision and mission of ANJ to increase the people’s quality of life and sustainably.

Besides SL25 Award, ANJ got the 2024 CSR Awards from Investortrust and BGK (Bumi Global Karbon) in Integrity & Transparency In Impact Award category on Thursday (24/10). It was the acknowledgement on the company’s transparency and integrity to implement social programs that positively deliverd impacts for the local and the environment, reinforced the commitment of the company to get the same welfare together.
