PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Planters Society (IPS) recently visited Malaysia to engage with the Malaysian Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP), building on a collaboration established through a prior memorandum of understanding in the palm oil plantation sector.
IPS Chairman Jamalul informed Palmoilmagazine.com on Friday, October 18, 2024, that the visit also included attendance at the 2024 Malaysia Future Agriculture Technology (MFAT) seminar. At the seminar, IPS showed interest in the innovative Remarkable Technology using Electro-Coagulation and Electro-Oxidation (RT-ECO), which purifies palm oil mill effluent (POME), converting it into clean water and reusable solids.
“We visited Merujaya POME Solutions Sdn Bhd in Banting, Selangor, Malaysia, to observe this technology firsthand. We are optimistic about its potential,” Jamalul said.
The visit further aimed to strengthen ties with ISP coordinators and reinforce the organizations, which were established last year. “A strong relationship between ISP and IPS can create opportunities for advancing knowledge and technology in the palm oil sector for both countries,” he added.
IPS hopes this collaboration will advance plantation technology, especially in POME management. RT-ECO, for instance, holds substantial potential for Indonesia, where water recycling systems could replace traditional waste ponds. “The mill waste could be processed into clean water, while the solid by-products could serve as nutrient substitutes in fertilizers,” Jamalul explained.
Some representatives from many related parties did attend the seminar to directly see the latest technology in Malaysia. Jamalul emphasized that IPS would always actively play its role in international scale – event to bring the good name of onesiesia in the globe.
“Representing IPS, this would be the start to introduce Indonesia in the world namely in palm oil plantation technology,” he mentioned. (P2)
