Apical’s Commitment to Develop Downstream to Boost Added Value of Palm Oil Commodities

PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – In support of the industrialization program initiated by the Indonesian government, since late 2021, Apical Group, a leading company in vegetable oil processing, especially palm oil, has announced significant expansion plans by investing US$1 Billion in Dumai. The purpose of this investment is to increase the production of value-added products in line with Indonesia’s vision to develop downstream industries.

According to Apical Group’s Head of Government and Industry Relations, Manumpak Manurung, as a midstream palm oil processor, Apical has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting downstream programs by expanding its product range. The production facility located in Dumai has been equipped with the latest processing technology, expected to enhance production efficiency and sustainability. With this increased capacity, Apical aims to meet the demand for high-quality processed palm oil products in both domestic and international markets.

“This investment is a strategic step for Apical in supporting the Indonesian government’s vision to increase the value-added of the palm oil industry. Through its latest facility, Apical not only increases its production capacity but also provides broad positive impacts, particularly on SMEs in Indonesia through the Tasty Creations program. The ‘Tasty Creations’ program, which ran throughout 2023, successfully inspired and supported various SMEs in Indonesia, especially on Java Island, in creating innovative and high-quality food products. By utilizing Apical’s processed palm oil products, SMEs can enhance the quality and variety of their products, opening up new market opportunities.

Apical Group’s Market Development Manager, George Tjiptamustika, revealed that throughout 2023, Apical collaborated with various stakeholders, including local governments, companies in the food industry, and SMEs. Through collaboration with SMEs, Apical hopes to stimulate SME growth in the food industry sector while strengthening the brand image of Apical, especially Vitas, Medalia, and Frybest.

In addition to collaboration activities, Apical also targets to hold independent demonstration activities focusing on Java Island first this year. Lastly, we are striving to establish efficient pricing strategies to be more competitive.
