PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Two major companies—Royal Golden Eagle (RGE), parent of an integrated palm oil group in Indonesia, and French energy giant TotalEnergies—have officially signed an agreement to develop a solar power plant (PLTS) in Riau, Indonesia. The project will be executed through their joint venture, Singa Renewables, with the agreement signed at the Presidential Palace, witnessed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Under the co-investment agreement, RGE and TotalEnergies will collaborate on developing, constructing, and operating a large-scale solar power plant in Riau. The initiative aims to boost the domestic supply of green energy while also exporting clean solar power to Singapore.

The project is part of Indonesia’s broader push toward clean energy transition and its aspiration to become a renewable energy hub in Southeast Asia. In addition to providing environmentally friendly power for domestic use, the project supports ASEAN’s ambition for cross-border clean energy collaboration.

Once operational, the solar plant will expand Indonesia’s renewable energy portfolio and strengthen the country’s potential to export green electricity to neighbors like Singapore, using the developing cross-border electricity infrastructure.

Through this partnership, RGE and TotalEnergies reaffirm their commitment to supporting the global energy transition agenda, in line with Indonesia’s goals to cut carbon emissions and increase the share of renewables in its national energy mix.

The initiative’s tagline, “Cleaner energy starts here,” highlights the project’s role in shaping a more sustainable energy future for both Indonesia and the region. (P2)
