PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — PT Bakrie Sumatera Plantations Tbk (BSP) has signed a strategic partnership with PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) to provide People’s Business Credit (KUR) financing for smallholder palm oil farmers and to strengthen collaborative programs. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), held in Jakarta, marks a concrete step toward fostering a more productive and sustainable palm oil plantation sector.
The event opened with remarks from BSP President Director Bayu Irianto and Deputy President Director Vinayaka B.S., followed by speeches from BNI representatives: Annisa Milana, Department Head of Enterprise Banking, and Sunarna Eka Nugraha, Division Head of Business Programs.
The session included introductions of both teams and a brief presentation outlining the KUR financing scheme and the partnership model. BNI sees a financing potential of up to IDR 1 trillion, aiming to support over 13,400 farmers across a total plasma plantation area of 19,406 hectares. The program covers operational areas of Bakrie Group entities in North Sumatra, Jambi, and West Sumatra.

The five participating entities in this strategic partnership include:
- PT Bakrie Sumatera Plantations Tbk – Kisaran, North Sumatra
- PT Grahadura Leidongprima – Aek Kanopan, North Sumatra
- PT Agrowiyana – Tanjung Jabung Barat, Jambi
- PT Sumbertama Nusapertiwi – Muaro Jambi, Jambi
- PT Bakrie Pasaman Plantations – Pasaman, West Sumatra
This initiative focuses not only on financing replanting programs through KUR but also on strengthening the partnership ecosystem between companies and farmers. The goal is to enhance farmers’ welfare, improve productivity, and ensure the long-term sustainability of Indonesia’s palm oil sector.
The event concluded with the exchange of souvenirs, a networking session, and a group photo.
Through this strategic collaboration, BSP and BNI reaffirm their commitment to supporting national food and energy security by advancing a sustainable palm oil industry.
High-Yield Seeds Drive Innovation and Sustainability
BSP is also innovating through the development of high-yield palm oil seeds capable of producing more fruit without the need to expand plantation land.
While the national average productivity is around 3 tons of CPO per hectare per year, BSP’s certified superior seeds have shown potential yields of up to 10 tons of CPO per hectare. These seeds produce about 40 tons of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) per hectare annually, with an oil extraction rate of 25%.
This breakthrough allows for a significant increase in palm oil and biodiesel production without expanding land use—supporting energy resilience while maintaining environmental sustainability.
BSP views high-yield seeds and smallholder replanting programs as critical drivers of both farmer prosperity and sustainable palm oil productivity. (P3)
