SPKS Members Mini Palm Oil Mill Officially Launches in West Kalimantan

PALMOILMAGAZINE, SINTANG – Chairman of the Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS), Sabarudin, officially introduced the mini palm oil mill owned by SPKS members in Telaga Dua Village, Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan Province.

This initiative represents SPKS members’ effort to process their plantation products and achieve their aspirations.

The Gapoktan Tuah Telaga is envisioned as a national model for independent smallholders to process their own plantations. This initiative underscores SPKS’s commitment to organizing its members and promoting their self-sufficiency in processing harvested crops.

“This mini mill would be the model and pilot project for SPKS nationally,” Sabarudin said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.com, Tuesday (2/7/2024).

He also said the field facts of independent smallholders showed that many of them should sell their fresh fruit bunch (FFB) production to the middlemen. That is why, independent process by constructing mini mill that the cooperation has had, could be the solution from what they were facing.

The mini mill that belongs to Gapoktan Tuah Telaga was officially inaugurated by Regent of Sintang dr. H. Jarot Winarno and Chairman of SPKS, Sabarudin (28/6/2024). Regent Jarot thought, the mini mill would be part of facility of the regional government for independent smallholders. If they successfully process their plantations well, the mini mill would be producing crude palm oil (CPO) as well.

“As part of man’s needs in CPO material, such as, palm cooking oil, margarine, soap, and cosmetics,” Regent Jarot said.

The mini mill that belongs to Gapoktan Tuah Telaga, he continued, would be the pioneer for other villages in Regency of Sintang. (T1)
