PALMOILMAGAZINE, BANDAR LAMPUNG – Exports of palm oil byproducts from Indonesia’s Lampung Province continue to gain momentum, with the Lampung Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine Office clearing a shipment of 14,000 metric tons of Palm Kernel Expeller (PKE) to New Zealand. The shipment is valued at approximately IDR20 billion.
According to Antara, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com on Monday (July 13, 2026), the entire shipment underwent quarantine inspections and met all phytosanitary and import requirements set by the destination country.
Head of the Lampung Quarantine Office Donni Muksydayan said the export reflects the growing competitiveness of Lampung’s plantation commodities in international markets and signals expanding opportunities for regional exporters.

“This PKE shipment demonstrates that Lampung’s commodities are competitive in the global market. We remain committed to ensuring every export complies with destination-country requirements so that international confidence in Indonesian products continues to grow,” Donni said.
He added that the emergence of new exporters highlights increasing business opportunities for Lampung’s plantation sector. The quarantine certification and inspection system provides exporters with the assurance needed to access overseas markets on a sustainable basis.
According to Donni, rising global demand for efficient alternative livestock feed ingredients presents significant opportunities for Indonesia—particularly Lampung—to increase PKE exports.

Quarantine Ensures Export Compliance
For every shipment, the Lampung Quarantine Office conducts physical inspections, supervision, and issues a Phytosanitary Certificate confirming that the cargo complies with international plant health standards and the importing country’s regulations.
The certificate verifies that the products are free from quarantine pests, helping facilitate international trade while safeguarding Indonesia’s market access abroad.
Donni emphasized that the quarantine agency serves as a safe-trade facilitator by ensuring all export commodities meet destination-country quarantine requirements and minimizing the risk of spreading plant pests.

Global Demand for PKE Continues to Grow
Palm Kernel Expeller is a high-value byproduct of palm oil processing widely used as livestock feed because of its fiber and nutritional content, particularly for dairy and beef cattle.
New Zealand remains a promising market for Indonesian PKE due to the country’s large livestock industry and strong demand for quality feed ingredients.
