The KPBN Inacom CPO tender price slipped 0.22% to IDR 14,775/kg on Tuesday (Oct. 13, 2026), while Malaysia’s December 2026 CPO futures contract rose RM45 to RM4,682 per tonne. Concerns over a potential El Niño-related supply squeeze and stronger biodiesel demand supported global prices despite pressure from elevated palm oil inventories.

PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — The highest offer for crude palm oil (CPO) in the PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) Inacom tender fell slightly on Tuesday (Oct. 13, 2026), extending the divergence between Indonesia’s domestic market and stronger benchmark prices in Malaysia.

The highest bid was recorded at IDR 14,775/kg, down IDR 33/kg, or 0.22%, from IDR 14,808/kg on Monday (Oct. 12).

According to KPBN data obtained by PalmOilMagazine, the Franco Dumai CPO price was set at IDR 14,775/kg. FOB Talang Duku stood at IDR 14,525/kg, while Franco Teluk Bayur was priced at IDR 14,575/kg. All prices exclude value-added tax (VAT).

The modest decline in the domestic tender came as global CPO prices strengthened, with Malaysia’s benchmark contract rebounding to its highest level in more than two weeks.

The benchmark December 2026 CPO futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives rose RM45 per tonne, or about 0.97%, to RM4,682 per tonne, equivalent to around US$1,146.43 per tonne, according to Reuters. The settlement was the highest since Sept. 24, 2026.

The recovery was supported by concerns that El Niño could tighten palm oil supplies in 2027, while expectations of stronger biodiesel demand provided an additional source of support. These factors helped offset pressure from currently elevated palm oil inventories.

Biodiesel demand remains an important driver for the CPO market. Greater use of palm oil as a feedstock for biofuels could increase demand for vegetable oils, although the pace of growth will continue to depend on energy prices and biodiesel policies in major consuming countries.

At the same time, high Malaysian palm oil inventories remain a potential constraint on further price gains. The balance between production, exports, domestic consumption and energy demand will be crucial in determining the direction of the market in the coming weeks.

Other vegetable oil markets moved in mixed directions. The most-active soybean oil contract on the Dalian Commodity Exchange fell 0.65%, while the exchange’s palm oil contract declined 0.77%.

In contrast, soybean oil futures on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) gained 0.55%. The divergent movements highlight the competing supply-and-demand dynamics across the global vegetable oil complex.

In the energy market, crude oil futures declined as traders assessed potential supply disruptions following attacks in Saudi Arabia while also weighing the possibility of additional diesel supplies from Russia.

Lower crude oil prices could reduce the relative attractiveness of palm oil as a biodiesel feedstock by affecting the economic competitiveness of vegetable-oil-based fuels against fossil fuels.
