Indonesia’s palm oil exports declined 2.67% in July 2026, with shipments to India and Russia posting sharp monthly drops. Despite the monthly weakness, cumulative exports through July rose 2.91% in volume, while export value increased 10.92% to US$23.26 billion.
PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — Indonesia’s palm oil exports weakened in July 2026, as monthly shipments declined and several major destination markets recorded lower volumes, led by India and Russia.
The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) reported total exports of palm oil products at 3.188 million tons in July, down 2.67% from 3.275 million tons in June.

GAPKI Executive Director Mukti Sardjono said the decline was recorded across several product categories.
Exports of crude palm oil (CPO) fell 25.70% to 249,000 tons from 335,000 tons in June. Shipments of processed palm oil products declined 2.57% to 2.296 million tons, while processed palm kernel oil products fell 14.60% to 99,000 tons.
Oleochemicals provided an offset, with exports increasing 14.94% to 537,000 tons from 467,000 tons in June, according to GAPKI data cited in a statement obtained by PalmOilMagazine on Monday (Oct. 12, 2026).

The weakness was also reflected in shipments to several key destinations. Compared with June, exports to India fell 20%, while shipments to Russia plunged 69%. Exports to Malaysia declined 32%, Pakistan fell 17%, and Bangladesh dropped 21%.
Several other markets moved in the opposite direction. Exports to the European Union-27 increased 40%, shipments to Africa rose 17%, and exports to the United States gained 20%. Shipments to China increased 4% from the previous month.
The divergent movements highlight the uneven performance of Indonesia’s palm oil exports across destination markets. The monthly data, however, do not specify the factors behind changes in demand in individual countries.

Cumulative Export Value Still Rises
Despite the monthly decline, Indonesia’s cumulative palm oil export performance remained positive through the first seven months of 2026.
GAPKI data show that exports of palm oil products reached 19.782 million tons during January–July 2026, up 2.91% from 19.223 million tons during the same period last year.

Export value rose at a faster pace, reaching US$23.26 billion, an increase of 10.92% from US$20.97 billion in January–July 2025.
The increase in export value coincided with higher average CPO export prices. GAPKI recorded an average CPO export price of US$1,137 per ton during January–July 2026, up from US$1,075 per ton a year earlier.
On a monthly basis, however, the average CPO export price edged down to US$1,168 per ton in July from US$1,174 per ton in June. Monthly export value also declined to US$3.81 billion from US$3.92 billion.

China recorded the strongest cumulative export growth among the markets identified by GAPKI, with shipments increasing 30% during January–July 2026 from the same period last year.
Exports to Malaysia increased 14%, while shipments to Africa rose 5% and those to the European Union-27 gained 4%. Exports to Russia increased 2% over the same period.
India remained a weak spot, with cumulative exports down 20% from January–July 2025. Shipments to Pakistan declined 13%, while exports to the United States fell 4% and Bangladesh decreased 3%.

The combination of weaker monthly exports and positive cumulative growth underscores the importance of distinguishing short-term market movements from broader annual trends.
Indonesia’s palm oil export performance remained positive through July, but the decline in shipments during the month highlights the need for the industry to closely monitor demand conditions across major destination markets in the months ahead. (P2)
