PT Bumi Sama Ganda’s Palm Oil Mill Burns

PALMOILMAGAZINE, BANDA ACEH – On the night of Thursday, February 15, 2024, a fire broke out at the mill of PT Bumi Sama Ganda (PT BSG) in the Village of Alur Manis, Sub-district of Rantau, in the Regency of Aceh Tamiang. The incident was reported by Aceh Tamiang firefighter Ilham Ramadhansyah at the scene.

The fire was believed to have started around 9:06 PM local time (WIB) and was suspected to have originated from the burning of oil waste that had accumulated in the bunch press of the mill, likely ignited manually using wood.

Promptly responding to the emergency call, firefighters from the Regency of Aceh Tamiang dispatched three units of fire trucks to the location, aided by assistance from both the mill workers and local villagers.

It was not easy to extinguish because the oil from the tank kept flowing. With the persistence, the fire fighters, police, army and the local, the fire was extinguished at 21.53 WIB.

“Everyone was difficult to do their job because the oil from bunch press kept flowing,” Ilham Ramadhansyah said.

As Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from Antara, the good thing was there was no injury in the accident and the loss from the fire was unknown still.

From the information, the mill was not operating for hardly a month because oil in the bunch press got frozen. This could be the factor to the fire. (T2)
