PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV (PTPN IV PalmCo), a subsidiary of PTPN III Holding (Persero), aims to generate an additional USD 3.6 million (approximately IDR 54 billion) this year by selling 120,000 metric tons of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Identity Preserved (IP) certified crude palm oil (CPO). This target will be achieved through operations in Riau and North Sumatra.

Jatmiko Santosa, President Director of PTPN IV PalmCo, highlighted that RSPO IP-certified CPO commands a significant premium in global markets. “Assuming an average premium price of USD 30 per metric ton, we expect an additional USD 3.6 million in revenue,” Jatmiko stated, as reported by Palmoilmagazine.com via Antara on Monday, January 6, 2025.

RSPO IP-certified CPO guarantees sustainability and traceability throughout the supply chain. “This supply chain model ensures certified palm oil products can be traced back to a single RSPO-certified palm oil mill,” he added.

Over the weekend, PTPN IV Regional III shipped its first batch of 4,000 metric tons of RSPO IP-certified CPO from Tandun and Sei Rokan palm oil mills in Riau. Regional Head Ahmad Gusmar Harahap revealed a production and shipment target of 50,000 metric tons of RSPO IP-certified CPO for global markets this year. With a premium price of USD 40 per metric ton, this initiative is also expected to contribute to national foreign exchange earnings.

“The IP certification is not just about fetching premium prices; it also reflects our commitment to sustainability and sustainable palm oil management,” Gusmar stated.

Jatmiko emphasized that achieving RSPO IP certification is the culmination of efforts by Regional III since 2024. This certification serves as PTPN IV’s contribution to maintaining the reputation of Indonesia’s palm oil sector, which President Prabowo Subianto has described as a strategic national asset.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, PTPN IV Regional III held a charitable event distributing aid to hundreds of orphans in the surrounding community. The symbolic event coincided with the departure of tank trucks carrying RSPO IP-certified CPO to Dumai International Port.

“Our employees are not only committed to producing high-quality products but also to making a positive impact on the community and safeguarding this strategic national asset,” Gusmar remarked.

Through these ambitious targets, PTPN IV PalmCo reinforces its dedication to supporting sustainable palm oil practices and enhancing its competitiveness in the global market. (P2)
