PALMOILMAGAZINE, SINGAPORE — Apical, a prominent global player in the palm oil industry, secured the second position in the 2023 Sustainable Palm Oil Transparency Toolkit (SPOTT). Notably, Apical increased its score by over 4% to reach 95.3%, establishing itself as a benchmark for sustainable principles and responsible business practices.
This accomplishment underscores Apical’s dedication to sustainability and inclusivity throughout its operational units and supply chain. It further solidifies Apical’s position as one of the top three most transparent and sustainable palm oil companies globally.
Zoological Society of London (ZSL) evaluated 100 palm oil producers, industries, and traders in 186 specific indicators that covered ten categories. The companies got score of percentage that would help to monitor their progress in time.

In the comprehensive evaluation that covered more than 100 palm oil companies, Apical consistently showed the good performance in environment, social, and governance (ESG) practices, surpassed the average in industrial level that reached 47,2%.
Director of Sustainability Apical Group, Bremen Young said the 2023 SPOTT score would be the proof in transparency, ESG and ethic commitment.
“We really believe the same responsibility on inclusivity in our supply chain. We have to contribute in food security responsibly. This achievement would be our motivation to effectively implement ESG which is established in Apical 2030. Young also said that Apical’s sustainability commitment is reflected in Apical 2030 that emphasized to create long-term positive impacts for the environment, climate, and communities. Apical 2030 that was formulated to deliver positive impacts in environment, business and social perspectives, has the targets that focus on four pillars of business sustainable strategies, they are, transformative partnership, climate action, green innovation, and inclusive progress.
